Best. Neighbor. Ever.
My neighbor just brought me a squirrel & moose cookie. That's right. Rocky & Bullwinkle.

And they were delicious.

Downtown view
Walking around downtown this evening & snapped a photo. This is the Methodist church (I think?) at sunset. Love downtown - such a cute area.

Also, better picture from Halloween - yay!

A different perspective
Went walking around campus today & discovered a new coffee shop & a great view. This campus is gorgeous, and the weather today is nearly perfect (the high is 60!), so I can't complain. I was disappointed that we didn't get snow like the news had predicted, but holy crap it got cold the other day!!! It was, I think, 40 & pouring. Sooooo awful. But today makes up for Wednesday!

Staring at another weekend of intense productivity and little rest. Counting down to Thanksgiving! 19 days 'til I hop a plane back home!

Temperature dropping, a bit disconcerting.
So today's forecast: high of 48, possible snow & rain. Whaaaat?!!?!

I'll post pictures if it happens. For now, enjoy the overcast view from my balcony.

Also, I'll make another real post soon. Just had to update.

Too much going on...
I'm seriously the busiest I've ever been this semester, and these next 3 weeks are going to be unbelievably insane.

I'm setting a goal for myself, though, on top of everything else. One blog post per day. Just one, at least, to keep myself writing. I'm teaching Comp I, and our main goal, as it is a writing course, is to keep our students writing. It's time for me to hold myself to that same standard - one post a day for 30 days. This, I can do.

Discovered some hilarity - bad lip reading. Youtube it. Youtube "Russian Unicorn." Die laughing. Repeat.

Halloween was relatively uneventful. Had an English Dept (we call ourselves SAGE) Halloween party on Friday, and it was fun, but that's about all I did. Mostly, I had a weekend of heavy reading, which isn't quite finished still. 70ish pages of articles to read tonight - I'll never learn. Time management is my biggest weakness.

People don't tell you about this aspect of grad school. I mean, of course I knew it would be difficult, but it's almost to the point of insanity. SO MUCH READING. The pressure is mounting.

BUT, 20 days 'til Belton!!!

So I've included a couple photos from Halloween. I went as Abby from NCIS again this year. The other photo is of my office mate, Mackenzie, holding Commodore the cat. Kenz was Minnie Mouse. Also, do enjoy the photo of my office. We've made it pretty awesome.

nothing like lawrence in the fall.
Ok...so remember when I said I was really jazzed about keeping my blog updated? Apparently I lied. 4 months later...hello!

I've been in Kansas for about three months now. I'm not 100% adjusted yet, but definitely better than the first week after my dad and fam left. That was rough. The phone has come in mighty handy, let me tell you.

Gad school is really hard. Every now & then, I just get completely overwhelemed with STUFF (read ALL the things?!) and just call home crying, ready to jump on the next plane to Austin. But, I've found that pushing through makes it bearable. It's still hard, but I'm doing the best I can. I mean, when life hands you a full college scholarship to pursue a PhD you take it and make dissertations, right?

One of the perks of living in the midwest is having four seasons. I've never had four seasons - really looking forward to the first day of snowy weather, but I'm sure that'll grow old, too. Definitely not looking forward to walking on snow, so I guess it's a good thing I live right next to the bus stop. Phew.

By the way, totally procrastinating my homework by writing this, but I figure it's a pretty decent use of my time.

Share in the beautiful scenery, people! And be jealous. Today's high was 58. Boom-shakalakalaka. Boom.

blog nine million and forty.
so reading sarita peta d's blog and getting notification of her blog updates has really made me want to start keeping a blog - problem being i don't have very exciting things to update with...

BUT. i'm moving soon!

so we'll start with that. we being me & Mr. Cozmo. he's excited too.

moving to Lawrence, Kansas in less than four weeks! i have to admit, it hasn't hit me yet. i'm more stoked about buying things for the apartment and prepping for my TA position and getting all settled in to realize i'm going to be 600 miles from home. from my mom. from everyone. thank heavens for cell phones and internet.

that being said, if anyone, for whatever insane reason, finds his/herself in Kansas...please hit me up! i'll never say 'no' to company.

so biggest news other than pee-wee's biggest adventure - Harry Potter midnight premiere in two days with my favorite sarita peta d! sooo excited! getting ready to make all kinds of fun snacks & butterbeer for the theater! gotta find a good movie purse...the hunt is on!

then the week after (july is practically a month of AWESOME), diego & i are headed to san antonio for a concert from the GREATEST BAND EVER - A PERFECT CIRCLE. maynard james keenan...yussssss. <3

THEN, yea, i said then, the FOLLOWING weekend, KATY PERRY, BITCHES! with ze bestest sister-in-law!

then i move the next friday. a month of AWESOME.
